Information for AP Refresher eLearning

Thank you for choosing to complete your training with New Zealand Biosecurity Academy (NZBA). Please find enclosed information you should know when you or your team are completing an

MPI-approved training course with us.

Accredited Person Refresher eLearning

Duration of Course

The Accredited Person Refresher eLearning self-directed learning, completed within 2 weeks from enrolment. 

  • After successful completion of the eLearning content and successful completion of the assessment, NZBA will issue participants with a NZBA Accredited Person training certificate along with a set of instructions that need to be followed to become an MPI Accredited Person.

The course consists of eLearning activities via NZBA's eLearning website. Candidates must have access to:

 

  • a good quality, stable internet connection

  • a laptop or desktop computer.

Pre-requisites

  • You must be a current MPI Accredited Person to complete this Refresher eLearning Course.

  • No prior preparation is required for the completion of the Accredited Person Refresher eLearning Course.

  • You must send a colour copy of your photo ID to info@biosecurityacademy.nz prior to starting course.

  • You must send a copy of your certificate of approval as an Accredited Person, or a copy of your training certificate and MPI AP number.

  • You will receive the Accredited Person resource book via email which you can print out.

  • You will receive a username and login for the NZBA eLearning website - you are required to log into this website to access your course.

Language

As specified by MPI, training is only provided in English. If English is not the participant's first language, a basic understanding of written and spoken English is required. If your organisation has any concerns, please contact NZBA to discuss.

Assessment

A short online assessment must be completed at the conclusion of the course. You must pass this assessment with 80% in order to be able to apply to MPI to be an Accredited Person.

Safety

All candidates must:

  • Obey all reasonable instructions of the course facilitator

  • Not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs

The completion of online testing or training is subject to cancellation in the event of unsafe conditions. Our course facilitator will make a decision relating to safety concerns in consultation with candidates.​​

 

Time Keeping

All eLearning content and assessment must be completed within 2 weeks from the enrolment date of the course.

Consequences

If following a warning, or warnings, a candidate continues to fail to adhere to any of the enclosed stated terms and conditions, a reasonable instruction from a course facilitator, the candidate will be removed from the online assessment/course.

Photo Identification​

All candidates completing the MPI Accredited Person Course must make available to the course facilitator at the time of the course either a NZ Drivers licence, Passport, or Firearms Licence. Temporary NZ Drivers licences must be accompanied with another form of photo ID.   

Assistance Required​

Please advise our team (in confidence) before the start of course of any learning difficulties you, or in the case of employers, your employee, may have e.g. difficulty in reading or hearing. If candidates have difficulties during the course they should not hesitate to talk to our team.

Withdrawals/Cancellations/Refunds

Your attendance for the course is confirmed by receipt of this Confirmation Email/Letter. The two week time frame for completion starts at the time of log in issue. If you are unable to attend the training course, the following cancellation or no show policy applies:

  • If you cannot complete the course within the 2 week time frame; and:

  • You notify us via email at info@biosecurityacademy.nz within the 2 week time of your intention to not complete, then you will be entitled to 50% refund of fees.

  • If you do not complete within the 2 week time frame - no refund of fees.

  • Removed from eLearning / assessment due to your behavior – no refund of fees

Should you/your candidate(s) not attend training, without prior notification to NZBA, we offer no refund and payment in full will be pursued. If a course does not reach minimum numbers or, for some other unavoidable reason is cancelled, your fee will be refunded in full.

​We are happy to substitute attendees with appropriate warning and as long as they meet any required criteria.

 

At the sole discretion of NZBA, circumstances which prevent a candidate from completing an online assessment or training course will be considered in the provision of refunds.

Reassessment

​The candidate will need to retake an in-class or webinar AP course and assessment if the candidate does not achieve competence. Please talk to our training team to arrange a new booking. This will be charged at the full course fee.

Complaint / Appeals Procedure

​Complaints arising from any course or if you wish to appeal any judgment or finding relating to your assessment please:​

  • Discuss with our assessment / training team at the time.

  • If you are still not satisfied, appeal in writing within 24hrs to the Training Coordinator.

Privacy

Personal information or business information supplied by customers in training/coaching sessions will be treated as confidential. It will not be disclosed to a third party (excluding MPI) without the client's prior permission, save where required by law or where action might be necessary to prevent harm to the client or someone else.

Terms and Conditions

By attending any training and/or assessment conducted by New Zealand Biosecurity Academy, you are agreeing to the above clauses along with our Terms and Conditions
